Avoiding Helplessness

1. Let other Christians rescue you from your feelings of helplessness and restore you to the battle of God’s people against evil inside and outside of the church. You are definitely needed, so be open to letting your powerlessness go. Don’t limit the Holy Spirit from anything. See Rescue and Restore One Another

2. Require yourself to have some sort of service for God to avoid a sense of helplessness. As long as God keeps you alive, He has ministry for you to do. You may not be able to serve in ways you have in the past, but you are not useless. Keep your spirit determined to find some way to serve God. See Serve God Together

3. No matter how poorly your body feels, still be available to some other Christian who needs you. Be devoted to Christians you know until your very last breath. Never give up and let yourself feel helpless for long. See Be Devoted to One Another

4. To avoid feeling powerless, find a Christian you can help. Serving one or more people is reason to live. Believe it or not, Christianity needs all Christians, including you, in some way or another. See Serve One Another

5. Find some Christian who is lonely and invite him or her over for a visit and perhaps a meal. A lot of Christians do not have a close friend and feel unacceptable. You can give them some of the love and concern that God intends them to get from the church. See Be Hospitable with One Another

6. If you own any books, tools or other things that you use only occasionally, offer to let other Christians borrow them. This can be very useful to others. See Share with One Another

7. Even though your body might be weary and your soul discouraged, hate evil and fight it with your spirit. In prayer, attack the dark principalities and powers of Satan on at least five strongholds of evil that you loathe. Do not discount the victories against malevolence that prayer can accomplish. 8. Pray regularly for the Christians in your inner circle and any other believers you hear of who need God’s intervention. Because God answers prayer, you are never powerless. Don’t allow false feelings of helplessness keep you from intercession for others. See Pray for One Another
