Before Jesus died for us on the cross, He said that true love for Him meant obeying His commands (John 14:21). He even gave His disciples a new command to love one another as He had loved them in their daily life together (John 13:34; 15:12). 

Our more intimate, everyday relationships with those special to us (friends and family) present the greatest opportunities to love Jesus as He asked, together responding to life’s joys and problems. 

It’s all spelled out in the “Togethers of Scripture" — those commands that open up biblical love and its dynamic power to enhance life. These are the ways of the kingdom of God.
